Alice's diary day 20- Sands of Training Time
We've been camping just outside the desert for about a week gradually growing stronger, but soon just started staying with granny on the other side of the desert. These Go-goggles I got have really been useful while training in the harsh desert conditions. There was actually one pretty hot day where I could of sworn I was seeing things during a training run. It appeared to be some sort of weasel pokemon, but I've never seen anything like it before or since.

Now on to the important stuff. According to my pokedex, my pokemon are all almost at level 30. Soon enough we should be strong enough to challenge the next gym with little worry about loosing anyone. Dad is the next gym leader, and that's why I've we've been training for so long. His normal types are pretty tough from what I remember. On the lighter side, Coonie's been having tons of fun finding things in the sand while the others are training. Her Pick-up ability has really been helpful. She even brought be some sort of fossil recently, not that I have any use for it.

It feels like I've been here forever now. I hope I can find that Surf HM I've read about. I think it's the only chance I have of heading east at the moment, since the ferry isn't running. Maybe dad can tell me where to find it. Starting tomorrow we'll start travelling to Petalburg.

Alice's diary day 25- Dads will be Dads.
Hm, I seem to be writing in this thing less often than I used to. I guess there just hasn't been anything to write down. We've been taking it slow, making our way south. We've finally reached dad's gym. His gym trainers seemed pleased to see us, despite their tough challenge battles. Once we were in to see dad, he gave me a big hug and congratulated me on making it this far. He also made it very clear that he was going to battle me like any other challenger.

The fight is actually just about to start as I write this, so I need to put my journal down. I'll update once it's done.. That fight was crazy! At first things were going smoothly, but then dad pulled out one of his Slakoth. The thing used Facade and somehow flattened Koffi. I know it's wrong, but I hated dad for what he did. I sent out Skri and she just sliced through his pokemon like mad. Could she sense my anger? Well, we beat dad.. but at the cost of losing a team-mate. Dad apologized and let me cry a into his shoulder. I've been allowed to bury Koffi beside the gym where dad will keep an eye on it. I'm still upset with him, but he's still my dad. He suggested that I go see Wally's parents, that it might improve my mood.

Well dad was right about mood improvement. Wally's dad had an old Surf HM that he didn't need anymore, and my dad told him that I might be able to use it. Thanks dad. Now we can go east, though first I need to make a pit stop at the Pokemon Center to get Spunki. The little spoink needs some training, but he'll at least fill the empty slot. We leave for Mauville in the morning.

Alice's diary day 27- A 'Shocking' Request.
We just recently got to Mauville only to find an obstacle of sorts. This morning when we left the Pokemon Center, there stood Wattson out by the road. I went over to say hi, but then he started telling me about a defective generator beneath the city (I even glanced downwards as if the street would suddenly blow up or something.) He finished his story by asking if I'd go investigate alone with only my pokemon and turn it off. I'm pretty sure there are guys who get paid to do with, but Wattson wouldn't take no for an answer. He just handed me the key and sent me on my way. How fun..

Fin and I reluctantly swam across the sea water of route 110 and made it to the poorly maintained entrance of the power plant. When I first stepped in side, I was nearly zapped by a small voltorb. Vorbi was then caught and sent to the lab storage. We struggled past several other nasty electric types and even found a few useful things. Then in a big room there as what I assumed to be the busted generator, and just as Wattson instructed, I hit the big red button marked "EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN". All electronic humming suddenly ceased. With Coonie's help, I then followed my escape rope out of there as quickly as I could and made a beedrill line for the Pokemon Center. I'll report to Wattson later.

Later that evening, when I did inform Wattson that I had been successful, he gave me a TM to thank me. I don't mean to sound greedy, but some Poke would have been nice. Oh well. Tomorrow we actually go east.

Alice's diary day 28- Where the wild things are?
We have finally surfed across route 118 for the first time, and boy does it feel great to be moving in an entirely new direction. What was interesting though, was that Steven Stone sorta appeared out of the blue. I hadn't seen him since I was in Dewford, so we had a nice little conversation before he had to get going again. Soon as he was gone, I was ambushed by a small TV crew. We battled, and then they interviewed me. When they were done, they just sorta ran off. It's been a bit of a weird morning so far. Something awesome just happened.. well, somewhat awesome. We started waking up and away from the beach when this beautiful Manectric leaped out in front of us. I just had to catch it, and a rather rough fight followed. I had to keep rotating pokemon to make sure no-one got hurt too badly. Eventually I caught the canine and named her Anek. Right after that a trainer challenged me to a battle. Oh joy.. Somehow we managed to get back to Mauville in once piece. We had lunch and I swapped out Spunki for Anek before going right back out there.

Route 114 was pretty interesting to travel up. I even met a man who had an entire flock of Wingull. (Wait, is that legal?) He told me he originally planned to use them all to fly, but that his wife had reminded him about the HM Fly and crushed his dreams. But after getting all those wingull, he just couldn't let them go. He was a little odd, but he was still a nice guy. Many battles later and we are now camped out near the Weather institute. I can see it in the distance from where our tent is. It's getting late though, so I think I'll go check it out tomorrow.

Alice's diary day 29- Strange weather
How come I didn't see this coming? Team Magma is blocking the only road that goes past the institute and won't let anyone go through. They also claim that the weather institute "Isn't safe". I guess I'll just go investigate then, since I seem to be the first choice for investigating potentially dangerous places..

Turns out my hunch was right. The place was swarming with Magma goons, but I managed to drive them all out. It seems I also rescued the employees that they were keeping locked up in an office. The scientists working there wanted to give me a castform, but I kindly turned them down.

We left the building soon afterwards and followed the road across the little bridge that had previously been blocked. Then we ran into Brendan again, this time on a bike. Fin let out a growl, but I hushed the Marshtomp before my old friend could hear him. Turns out he wanted another battle. I just stared at him, unamused by the request. He promised he'd control him pokemon better and finally I decided to give him a chance. I ended up winning, but before I could keep going, Brendan gave me a gift. It was the Fly HM. I gave him a pat on the shoulder and thanked him, and then he rode off in the direction I had just come from.

After a couple of ninja wannabees got their butts kicked, Fin, Coonie and I merrily walked into Fortree City. The sun had just started to set behind to trees, and resulted in the whole place being bathed by a rather lovely glow. We've now had our dinner and checked into the Pokemon Center for the night. I think tomorrow we'll investigate the gym.
Pokemon Ruby Nuzlocke
More silly subtitles, I know.. But I've caught up to my in-game location! That means don't expect the next part for a little while. lol.

If you don't know what Alice thought she saw in the desert, then I suggest you read "A Buizel Tale". [link]
